Oh Yeah! Hey Jay is out with a brand new track titled GENTLE SECRETS. What I like about this band/ group is that, these guys are like the Avengers. Each of the members have their own music thingy going but when the time comes.... they Assemble.
Hey Jay is actually a pretty cool band that bagged the award for Best Rock Video for their track titled Never End at US Rampage Music Awards 2022. You can find out more about that in the PODCAST I had with frontman Jay Ridzwan a while back.
Now let's talk about their latest single GENTLE SECRETS. The first thing I know that's gonna be running in your mind is..."What? It's 5min and 7 secs long?" . Just hang in in there. It's worth every second of it. When you like a track, time is irrelevant. It starts of with that dreamy sounding ambience with those xylophone tunes, something that you might find in a Pink Floyd track..come to think of it, it does have that Pink Floyd vibe to a certain extend. It does go upbeat halfway through the track. As for the vocals, it surely sound a lil different from his previous track. I could sense that emotions have been kicked up a notch or two. I guess it might have to do with the fact of what's this song is about. Based on what I've heard, this song is about a person suppressing the feelings they have without being able to release or express it. It could also be translated to unexpressed past regrets due to the fear of being criticized. Let me share the lyrics at the bottom of this post and you decide how you would like to translate it.
Another 2 things that caught my attention was for this track is that animated video which you could see when you play it on Spotify. It sure does suit the track. The other is the cover art for the single which was done by Jay's cousin ARI AHMAD. I freakin love it! All of Hey Jay's single has one, kinda like a theme. It's always nice to see a good cover art for an album or track. It gives that nice sense of anticipation for the upcoming ones. So great job Ari.
